Chicken BBQ Dinner - (June 2018)
A BBQ Chicken Dinner will be held on June 19th (Father's Day) from 11 AM - 2 PM at the Westover Area Volunteer Fire Company. Proceeds will benefit the Fire Company and CCWA, so bring Dad out for a delicious Father's Day dinner, and support two community volunteer organizations. Click here to view flyer.
Children's Fishing Derby in Westover was a Success Despite Rainy Weather (May 2016)
The kid's fishing derby that was held on Saturday, May 14th in Westover was a huge success despite the rainy weather that rolled in that morning. Seventy-five children participated in the event. Thank you to everyone who helped make this event a success! We hope to do it again next year! Pictures are available on the Chest Creek Watershed Alliance Facebook page.
2nd Annual Watershed Cleanup Day (April 2016)
Thank you to the seven volunteers that came out on April 2nd to help us with the watershed cleanup in Westover. We were able to collect ten bags of litter along with some miscellaneous items from along Chest Creek, Bridge Street, Water Street, and the road that goes back toward the water treatment plant. Also, thank you to PennDOT for supplying the bags, gloves, and vests and for disposing of the trash we collected. If you are fishing in the area this season, please be mindful of the hard work our volunteers put in and help keep the area clean and litter free! Thank you!
CCWA Receives Watershed Mini Grant (February 2016)
We are pleased to announce that the CCWA is a recipient of a grant from the 2016 Dominion/Western PA Conservancy Watershed Mini Grant Program. Funding from this program will be used to pay for water sample analysis as part of the Brubaker Run Coldwater Conservation Plan Development project. Thank you, Dominion and WPC!!
CCWA Receives Coldwater Heritage Partnership Grant (February 27, 2016)
We are pleased to announce that the CCWA, in partnership with Trout Unlimited's Coldwater Habitat Restoration Program, has received a grant from the Coldwater Heritage Partnership Program to perform an assessment of Brubaker Run and its tributaries and develop a conservation plan for the watershed. We will be asking for public input as we develop the plan so keep your eye out for upcoming meetings and opportunities to participate.
